Kỳ Lân's House is pleased to present Veiled in Smoke, A Thousand Mists, a small showcase featuring works by artist Hà Mạnh Thắng.
The showcase's title comes from a line in a four-verse lục bát poem celebrating the landscapes of West Lake, titled "Hà Nội Tức Cảnh" (Impromptu Reflections on Hanoi) by Dương Khuê—an eminent late 19th-century intellectual and poetic luminary of Northern Vietnam. Veiled in Smoke, A Thousand Mists brings together a curated selection of pieces from the artist's previous series spanning 2014 to 2018, alongside a small collection of his latest, never-before-seen works created over the last few years. This presentation marks the inaugural showcase at Kỳ Lân's House.
With continuous inspiration from history and culture, the showcase centers on the West Lake area—a place to which the artist has maintained a deep connection. Spanning nearly a decade of artistic output, this collection offers a sincere and enduring reflection of a singular, overarching journey pursued by the artist: "Time and history, space and the cultural sediments of the places I have traversed, absorbing the distinct lessons offered by the journeys of both life and work."
